The Tenth Annual Haiku Contest is over Winners have been posted. Click on a year at left to read that year's winners. Haiku is a traditional Japanese poem of three lines, often, but not always, composed of 17 syllables arranged in a 5-7-5 form. Haiku usually contains a reference to nature and the seasons and reflects a Buddhist perception about life.
Enter your original haiku poem for a chance to win dinner for two or a $20 gift certificate to Akai Hana Japanese Restaurant. One Grand Prize will be awarded and four runner-up prizes. Download the entry form (requires Acrobat Reader) and bring your submission to the restaurant at 206 W. Main Street in Carrboro by the deadline date, or simply come by the restaurant and write it while you eat. We look forward to reading your poetry! Look for the next contest beginning in April 2012. |
